CIDR Professional Learning Frameworks
CIDR integrates two frameworks—Reading for In-Depth Learning and Orientations for a Positive Classroom Climate for Diversity—to support the academic success and well-being of students from immigrant and refugee backgrounds. In collaboration with the developers of these frameworks, we are developing research instruments to assess how the core principles of each framework are enacted and experienced by both educators and students.
Reading for In-Depth Learning
Reading for in-depth learning engages students in four dimensions of reading:
- Textual: analyzing how texts work
- Personal: connecting to identity & experience
- Critical: questioning perspectives & power
- Creative and Transformative: responding and taking action
